Do you need some help with breastfeeding?

Whether you are struggling to latch your baby on comfortably, would like some help creating a sustainable plan to increase your milk supply, or have hit a snag in your breastfeeding journey, I’m here to help.

As an experienced obstetrical Registered Nurse and IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant), I support all families regardless of their feeding goals.

In-home lactation consults are available in Kincardine, Port Elgin, Goderich, Walkerton, and surrounding areas.

Home visits are very helpful for many reasons. Many families do not receive enough routine follow-up care in their baby’s first few years of life, especially if they have been experiencing breastfeeding challenges. It is also hard to leave the house with little ones.

How to Prepare for Your Lactation Consult

Once you book, you will receive a link to your email to join my secure online platform to complete the required forms before our session. It is helpful to have any supplies you are using on-hand. During our session, we will want to do some hands-on breastfeeding support – you may want to think about where you would like to practice feeding your baby. It is helpful to delay fully feeding your baby until it is time for our session, or give a shorter feed prior if possible. I know this can be hard – just do what you can. If the timing doesn’t work out, we can still work on positioning techniques.

P.S. Please don’t clean! Trust me, with 4 kids my house is never clean!

Can Lactation Consults Be Covered By Insurance?

Maybe – it depends on your coverage. Every extended health insurance plan is different, so you will need to contact them to see what types of services you can claim and your yearly spending limits. My clients within Ontario have been able to claim their receipts through health spending accounts or through nursing care or lactation coverage.

If you don’t have coverage, receipts can be claimed during tax time in Ontario as a health expense as I am a Registered Nurse. Reach out to your accountant if you have any questions about this. If you want to have coverage in the future or help other parents at your workplace, let your company or union know that you would like this service to be added to your benefits! The only way to have your coverage change is by voicing out.

Do You Support Breastfeeding Families Only?

No! I am here to support you to reach your feeding goals, regardless of what that may look like. I have helped hundreds of moms with exclusively pumping, combination feeding, formula feeding, starting solids, weaning and everything in between. Oftentimes our feeding journeys come with a lot of unexpected twists and turns. My priority is to help you feel confident & supported during your postpartum period so you can enjoy time with your baby.
